Contest Official Rules and Regulations (the “Official Rules”)
The “Buckshot Outpost Contest” (the “Contest”) is open to all residents of Canada, excluding residents of Quebec, who have reached the legal age of majority in their province or territory of residence. The Contest is governed by all applicable federal, provincial, and municipal laws.
The Contest is sponsored and administered by Buckshot Outpost (the “Sponsor”). It is void where prohibited by law.
Additional details specific to each Contest will be provided in the Contest Post on the Buckshot Outpost Facebook Group.
1. PROMOTION PERIOD
The Contest begins at 7:00 a.m. (MST) and ends at 7:00 p.m. (MST) on the date specified in the Contest Post (the “Contest Period”). The Sponsor’s official timekeeping system will serve as the sole determinant for all timing-related matters in this Contest, including the receipt of valid entries.
2. ELIGIBILITY
To enter and be eligible to win the Prize, an individual must, at the time of entry:
(a) be a legal resident of Canada (excluding the Province of Quebec);
(b) be physically located in Canada (excluding the Province of Quebec); and
(c) have reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence.
Employees, officers, and directors of the Sponsor, its funders, partners, provincial representatives, affiliated companies or agents, advertising and promotional agencies, and prize suppliers (collectively, the “Contest Entities”), as well as their immediate family members and any individuals residing in the same household (including common-law spouses), are not eligible to participate. For the purposes of these Official Rules, “immediate family” includes a parent, child, sibling, or spouse (including common-law spouse), regardless of place of residence.
The Sponsor reserves the right, at any time, to request proof of identity and/or eligibility to participate in the Contest. Failure to provide satisfactory proof may result in disqualification. All personal and other information provided to the Sponsor must be truthful, accurate, complete, and not misleading in any way.
The Sponsor also reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion, to disqualify any entrant who provides false, incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading information at any stage of the Contest. All Entries must be submitted by the individual entrant and not on behalf of another person.
3. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
By participating in the Contest, each entrant:
(i) agrees to comply with and be bound by these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements;
(ii) agrees to the terms of the Sponsor’s Privacy Policy (the “Privacy Policy”), available at https://www.buckshotoutpost.ca/privacypolicy; and
(iii) agrees to accept all decisions made by the Sponsor, in its sole discretion, as final and binding in all matters relating to the Contest.
Any entrant who fails to comply with these Official Rules will be disqualified.

4. HOW TO ENTER
No purchase is required to participate. To enter the Contest without buying an Eligible Product, participants can submit a written Free Entry Request to the Sponsor’s mailing address (available upon request). Each Free Entry Request must meet the following requirements:
-
(i) Include the participant’s full name (first and last) and email address,
-
(ii) Clearly state the request for one (1) Contest entry,
-
(iii) Be written on plain white paper,
-
(iv) Be mailed in an envelope with appropriate Canadian postage to the mailing address (available upon request), and received within the Contest Period,
-
(v) Each envelope may only contain one (1) Free Entry request per draw,
-
(vi) Include 10 photographs of the participant enjoying outdoor activities, and a handwritten, double-sided essay (on lined paper) describing a memorable experience from a past hunting, hiking, or vacation trip.
The Sponsor is not responsible for any Free Entry Requests that are lost, delayed, damaged, stolen, or undelivered. Any such entries will be considered void.
Once all available Eligible Products for the promotional giveaway are sold, the Sponsor will determine a cutoff time for entry submissions. If there are any unconfirmed entries, those spots (and their corresponding numbers) may be reopened and made available to other participants. To claim an open spot at that point, the specific number must be called after the cutoff time. Any number selected before the announced cutoff time will not be valid.
Open spots will be reassigned on a first-come, first-served basis according to the timestamp of the request as received via Facebook. Spot numbers cannot be pre-called before the cutoff. Whether the giveaway is conducted as a standard or "IN" style draw, open spots must be claimed by calling out the corresponding number in sequence. For "IN" style giveaways, using “IN” as a general response will not secure an unconfirmed spot.
For giveaways featuring high-value prizes, the Sponsor will allow participants up to 24 hours to confirm their entries. For giveaways with lower-value items, the Sponsor will apply a shorter cutoff period once all Eligible Products are claimed. The Sponsor reserves full discretion to determine both the Contest Period and all related deadlines, including shorter-than-24-hour cutoff times where applicable. However, reasonable time and notice will be provided to ensure participants have a fair opportunity to confirm.
Once a valid Free Entry Request is received and approved by the Sponsor (at their sole discretion), an email confirmation will be sent to the participant confirming their entry (the “Free Entry”).
If the Contest Period is less than three (3) weeks, participants may instead submit a Digital Free Entry Request by emailing: buckshotoutpost@gmail.com.
To qualify, the Digital Free Entry Request must:
-
(i) Include the participant’s full name and email address in the body of the message,
-
(ii) Clearly request one (1) Contest entry, and
-
(iii) Attach a clear photo of the physical Free Entry Request, including the addressed envelope.
Each Digital Free Entry may include only one (1) entry, and must be supported by a unique image of a completed Free Entry Request.
Once received and approved by the Sponsor (at their sole discretion), an email confirmation will be sent to confirm the Digital Free Entry.
If a Digital Free Entry is selected as the Unconfirmed Winner, they must:
-
(i) Meet all winner requirements as outlined in Section 9, and
-
(ii) Have their original Free Entry Request received and approved by the Sponsor within 14 days of being announced as a winner, in order to be declared a Confirmed Winner.
Participants who purchase any Eligible Product listed in the Contest Short Form Rules will receive one (1) entry for each item purchased (a “Paid Entry”), subject to the limits in Section 5.
Incomplete or improperly submitted entries may be rejected at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. All decisions made by the Sponsor regarding entry eligibility and disqualification are final and binding.
To clarify: Paid and Free Entries are treated equally in terms of odds of winning, prize eligibility, and all other contest mechanics—the only difference is the method of entry.
Collectively, all Paid and Free Entries will be referred to as “Entries,” and individually as an “Entry.”
5. LIMIT OF NUMBER OF ENTRIES
Each person or organization may submit only one (1) Free Entry per Free Entry Request and will receive only one (1) Paid Entry for each purchase of an Eligible Product. A maximum number of Paid Entries may apply, depending on the availability of Eligible Products during the Contest Period. This limit (the “Entry Limit”) will be specified in the Contest Post.
All information provided by participants must be truthful, accurate, complete, and not misleading in any way. Anyone found to have entered the Contest outside of the Contest Period or to have exceeded the Entry Limit will be disqualified at the Sponsor’s sole discretion. The Sponsor also reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant who provides false, incomplete, inaccurate, or misleading information at any point.
Proof of submission (including screenshots, screen captures, etc.) does not constitute proof of receipt. The Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, illegible, falsified, damaged, misdirected, mutilated, garbled, or incomplete Entries, all of which will be deemed void. All Entries become the property of the Sponsor upon receipt and will not be returned. Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are forged, falsified, altered, or tampered with in any way.
6. PRIZE AND APPROXIMATE RETAIL VALUE
At the conclusion of the Contest Period, the Sponsor will compile all valid Entries. The prize draw will take place within twenty-four (24) hours after the Contest Period ends (the “Draw Date”) in Edmonton, Alberta. The total number of prizes available to be won will be specified in the Contest Post.
One (1) eligible entrant will be randomly selected (the “Draw”) from all eligible Entries received during the Contest Period in accordance with these Official Rules and not otherwise disqualified by the Sponsor. The odds of winning depend on the total number of eligible Entries received during the Contest Period.
The prizes, along with their descriptions and approximate retail values, will be detailed in the Contest Post (collectively referred to as the “Prize”).
The following terms and conditions apply to the Prize:
(i) The Prize must be accepted as awarded, without substitution, and is not transferable, assignable, or redeemable for cash (unless otherwise permitted at the sole discretion of the Sponsor);
(ii) If, for any reason, the Sponsor cannot award the Prize or any component of it as described, the Sponsor reserves the right, without liability, to substitute the Prize or any component with another of equal or greater value;
(iii) The Prize is provided “as is” without any warranty, representation, condition, or guarantee, express or implied. The Sponsor makes no representations and offers no warranties, express or implied, regarding the quality or fitness of the Prize. To the fullest extent permitted by law, each confirmed winner acknowledges that they have no right to claim damages, reimbursement, or any legal or equitable remedy against the Sponsor if the Prize or any part of it is unsatisfactory or unfit for its intended purpose. By accepting the Prize, the confirmed winner waives all recourse against the Sponsor relating to the Prize or any component thereof;
(iv) Any difference between the actual value of a Prize and its stated retail value on the Contest Post will not be awarded; and
(v) The Prize may not be exactly as depicted in any promotional materials.
7. METHOD OF RANDOM DRAW
All eligible Entries received during the Contest Period will be assigned a unique number (each referred to as an “Entrant Number,” and collectively as the “Entrant Numbers”).
On the Draw Date, the following procedure will be used to determine the winner of the Prize:
(i) All Entrant Numbers will be entered into a randomizer tool (https://www.random.org/);
(ii) Two six-sided dice will be rolled once, and the combined total of both dice will determine the number of times the Entrant Numbers are randomized (the “Random Sorting”);
(iii) The Random Sorting will be conducted, resulting in a final ordered list of Entries ranging from 1 to the total number of Entries (the “Final List”); and
(iv) The winner will be the Entrant Number appearing first on the Final List following the completion of the Random Sorting (the “Unconfirmed Contest Winner”).
(This procedure is collectively referred to as the “Draw Process.”)
The Draw Process will be broadcast live on the Buckshot Outpost Facebook Page via Facebook Live on the Draw Date.
8. WINNER NOTIFICATION
On the Draw Date, the Unconfirmed Winner must be a member of Buckshot Outposts Facebook Group at time of the draw, if the Unconfirmed Winner has left the group, the Sponsor will make 1 attempt to reach the Unconfirmed Winner, if they cannot be reached within 24 hours, the Sponsor with initiate a redraw. The Sponsor or its authorized representative will attempt to contact the member and Unconfirmed Contest Winner up to three (3) times via email or Facebook Messenger, using the contact information provided at the time of entry, within forty-eight (48) hours following the Draw.
If the Unconfirmed Contest Winner cannot be reached within forty-eight (48) hours of the Draw Date, as described above, the Sponsor may, at its sole and absolute discretion, disqualify that entrant. In such case, the entrant will forfeit all rights to the Prize.
9. WINNER CONFIRMATION
BEFORE BEING DECLARED THE CONFIRMED CONTEST WINNER, the Unconfirmed Contest Winner must:
(i) correctly answer a three-part mathematical skill-testing question without the use of any mechanical or other assistance (the “Skill-Testing Question”); and
(ii) sign and return the Sponsor’s Declaration of Compliance and Release of Liability Form (the “Form”) within seventy-two (72) hours of the Draw Date.
Once the Unconfirmed Contest Winner successfully completes the requirements outlined in sections 9(i) and 9(ii), they will be declared the Confirmed Contest Winner. Within twenty-four (24) hours of being confirmed, the Sponsor will contact the Confirmed Contest Winner via email or Facebook Messenger to arrange one of the following:
-
in-person collection of the Prize at the Sponsor’s office (address available upon request), or
-
shipment of the Prize to the Confirmed Contest Winner.
Further details are provided in the Contest Short Form Rules.
If the Unconfirmed Contest Winner:
(i) fails to correctly answer the Skill-Testing Question;
(ii) fails to return the completed and signed Form within the time period specified in section 9(ii);
(iii) is unable or unwilling to accept the Prize as awarded;

If the Unconfirmed Contest Winner or Confirmed Contest Winner is disqualified before receiving the Prize, the next entrant listed on the Final List will become the new Unconfirmed Contest Winner, and the Prize awarding process described in Sections 8 and 9 will be repeated. This process will continue until a winner successfully claims the Prize or until no remaining entrants are available on the Final List, whichever occurs first.
